Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Opportunities for 24/25

‘Keen to Teach?’ School Experience Days

Last year, a number of Derbyshire schools hosted school experience days for graduates who are keen to teach. These opportunities provided an invaluable insight into school life for those potential teachers, several of whom have now embarked on their PGCE year. We are currently seeking to expand our list of available schools across the region.

To add your school to our list, please contact itt@potentiatsh.co.uk.

Primary PGCE Term 2 Placement Request

We are exceptionally proud to be Delivery Partners for the school-based, provider-led primary route with the ‘Outstanding’ ITT/E provider, University of Derby. Our ‘Team Potentia’ trainees are now settled into their placement schools for this term.

Would you be interested in offering a term 2 placement to a ‘Team Potentia’ primary trainee in spring 2025? Mentors in all schools who host trainees will benefit from up to 20 hours mentor training to enable them to fulfil the role, in line with expectations outlined in the ITT reforms, and supported by DfE funding.

To express an interest, please contact itt@potentiatsh.co.uk.

Secondary PGCE Placements from September 2025

Plans are in place to offer a secondary ITT programme with University of Derby from September 2025. This will be the school-based, provider-led route.

As applications come in, we will be seeking support from secondary schools to support with the interview process and with placements from September 2025.

To express an interest, please contact itt@potentiatsh.co.uk

Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project

As your local TSH we are fully funding places for schools in our region and across the East Midlands in collaboration with Spencer TSH for access to the Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project (MTPT)

The MTPT is the UK's charity which specialises in supporting the parent-teacher demographic with workshops for teachers who are returning to work after a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave. They also provide group coaching to support teachers navigating parental leave.
