Maternity Teacher Parternity Teacher Project (MTPT)
Potentia Teaching School Hub (TSH), Spencer TSH and Leicestershire and Rutland TSH are working in collaboration with MTPT and fully funding workshops for colleagues across the East Midlands who are returning to work following a period of maternity, adoption, or parental leave.
Two new Hubs
We are delighted to inform you that schools within our region now have access to the newly appointed Languages Hub and Early Years Stronger Practice Hub.

Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project
|
|
The MTPT is the UK's charity which specialises in supporting the parent-teacher demographic with workshops for teachers who are returning to work after a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave. They also provide group coaching to support teachers navigating parental leave.
|

How to access this support
This support is accessible to all schools within our region and is fully funded by Potentia TSH. Once you have identified the support you would like to access below, please follow the link to the Eventbrite booking page and enter the Potentia code EM23 at checkout.

Empowering group coaching for colleagues on maternity, adoption and shared parental leave
Winter cohort: Tuesday 12th December, 8th January, 6th February, 09:30-10:30
Fully-funded for colleagues in the East Midlands thanks to Potentia TSH and Spencer TSH.
Regain your confidence, sense of control and your identity beyond "mum" or "dad" on our supportive and empowering group coaching programme.
Over three hour-long virtual sessions, we'll explore key themes of change, identity, confidence and future plans with other parent-teachers.
You’ll have the time to connect with a community of like-minded colleagues, reflect in response to simple coaching tools, and reconnect with what you want, free from the "shoulds" and "musts" of teaching and parenting.
This is an online, baby-friendly event for colleagues currently on maternity, adoption or shared parental leave.

Return to Work workshop for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave returners
Thursday 14th December, 09:30-11:00
Fully-funded for colleagues in the East Midlands thanks to Potentia TSH, Spencer TSH and Leicestershire and Rutland TSH.
In this 90 minute workshop, The MTPT Project will share key legal information about your rights as a returning parent.
You’ll have the time to connect with other parent-teachers and the headspace to identify and set boundaries to support you as you step back into the classroom. We’ll share organisational tips for home and school, and leave you feeling emotionally prepared for a confident return.
This is an online, baby-friendly event.

As part of the government’s long-term education recovery plan, it was announced in May 2022 that funding for fully funded NPQ training scholarships would be available in the academic year 2023 to 2024.
Schools can also access targeted support funding, which is designed to increase uptake of evidenced-based professional development amongst teachers and leaders. Free funding is still available from February 2023 to incentivise participation in National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).

99% satisfaction rate for Cohort 2 Leadership NPQs
EDT are delighted that, from their latest end-of-programme survey, they report 99% satisfaction rates across their Cohort 2 Leadership NPQ participants. This includes 100% satisfaction amongst NPQEL participants.
This been achieved with delivery partners such as Potentia TSH and we want to thank you for supporting us and recognising the hard work that has gone into delivering such high quality, high impact programmes to participants locally.

In February 2024, we will be leading the Early Headship Coaching Offer (EHCO). The EHCO is a 12-month programme of targeted support for headteachers/Heads of School, in their first five years of headship. It is not assessed! This is all about helping you embed the learning from your NPQ for Headship, sharing and receiving support from your peers, gaining confidence and achieving early success in your role. Early Career Teachers (ECTs)

Early Career Framework (ECF) and Appropriate Body (AB)

We have welcomed back all of our previous cohorts of ECTs and Mentors as well as welcoming 73 new ECTs and their mentors into our regions this half term.

Over this half-term we ran 11 Early Career Framework training events across Derbyshire – it was wonderful to see how ECTs and Mentors are engaging with the programme and implementing the blocks of knowledge they’re building on from the ITT curriculum and year 1 ECF curriculum.

National Consortium for Languages Education (NCLE) Languages Hub
|
|
We are delighted to share information from Littleover Community School, which have recently become an NCLE Languages Hub. They have asked us to disseminate further information about their Hub as follows:
Supported by £15million DfE funding, the NCLE is creating a national network of up to 25 lead hub schools across England. Each lead hub school will deliver training to up to seven partner schools to improve standards of language teaching and learning across the country. This summer, Littleover Community School was selected as one of the Phase 1 lead schools.
The NCLE is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and delivered by IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society (UCL IOE) in partnership with the British Council, the Goethe-Institut and other stakeholders.

Early Years Stronger Practice Hub
|
|
We are delighted to inform you about the formation of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Early Years Stronger Practice Hub. Their vision as a partnership of Early Years settings is to support and empower all practitioners working in the diverse range of early years settings across our area, to be at the cutting edge of great practice.
Their work will specifically focus on supporting children who have been the most affected by Covid-19 to recover from its impact. They will be building peer-to-peer networks and supporting settings with areas of development that research has identified as being most impacted by COVID-19:

Communication and Language
Early Literacy and Maths
