Dear colleague,
Welcome back, and we hope you had an enjoyable half-term break.
In November, we are commencing our next cohort of NPQs, which includes our newest programme, NPQSENCO. Thank you to all that have signed up, and we look forward to meeting you this coming week!
In this month's newsletter we focus on the funded secondary and post 16 CPD provided by your local Computing Hub in our spotlight section. In the coffee break section, we look at the Carneige School of Education's 'A guide to attuned authentic coaching for teachers'.
Thank you to the schools who took the time to complete our school leader satisfaction survey. If you have done so, please keep an eye out on your emails as you may have been randomly selected as the winner of a £50 Amazon gift voucher.
Kind regards,
Alan and the Potentia Team

Primary PGCE programme with University of Derby
|
|
Now the recruitment window has opened, we are currently interviewing candidates for the primary PGCE programme we offer with University of Derby. This is the provider-led, school-based route for 3-7 or 5-11. School mentors who are supporting the current cohort are benefitting from high-quality mentor training from the University of Derby, exploring how to use instructional coaching and reflective models to support trainees’ developing practice.
We work closely with successful candidates to organise their placements once they have accepted a place on the programme. This provides an opportunity for them to visit school in spring, in preparation for the start of the course. Would you like to indicate an interest in offering a school placement in September 2025? Here is a quote from the above video clip above to explain Teach First as an organisation.
"One in four children in the UK live in poverty. They don’t get the opportunities they need to thrive in school. And when they leave, they’re more likely to end up out of work or further training. Teach First are here to help them fulfil their potential. Since 2003, they have been improving the life chances and choices for children experiencing poverty. They train talented teachers and equip school leaders working in some of the poorest areas of the country – to give children with the fewest opportunities access to a great education. They are a community working inside the classroom and beyond. To bring an end to educational inequality. Because a child’s future shouldn’t depend on their postcode".

In this month's coffee break we would like to share with you the Carneige School of Education 'A guide to attuned authentic coaching for teachers (AACT)'
|
|
AACT was co-created by a group of teachers, teacher educators and coaches as a response to the surge in teacher coaching.
AACT is based on cycles of engagement and participation enabling co-enquiry between the coach and the teacher. It is an emergent model. As the initial work of the co-creation group ended, they invited colleagues working in and with schools to play with the approach, to deduce its potential, and to adapt it to suit their contexts.
|
|
If you would like to know more, you can download the AACT guide.
